Structural Spray Lining in San Francisco, CA

Restore Your Sewer Pipe From the Inside — Without Digging It Up

What is Structural Spray Lining (SIPP)?

Structural Spray Lining, also known as SIPP (Spray-in-Place Pipe), is a trenchless method used to rehabilitate deteriorated sewer lines from inside the existing pipe. Instead of excavating and replacing the entire sewer line, a specialized structural lining material is applied directly to the interior of the existing pipe, creating a new, seamless surface within it.

The goal is simple: restore the sewer line while avoiding unnecessary excavation, property damage, cost, and disruption. When conditions allow, SIPP can preserve driveways, concrete, landscaping, patios, and other improvements that might otherwise need to be removed and rebuilt during a traditional sewer replacement.

How Structural Spray Lining Works

The condition of the existing sewer line is first evaluated with a camera inspection. Before lining, the pipe must be thoroughly cleaned and mechanically prepared to remove buildup, scale, corrosion, roots, and other material that could interfere with proper adhesion.

Once the pipe is properly prepared, the structural lining material is spray-applied to the interior surface in a controlled process. The material forms a continuous, corrosion-resistant structural lining that reinforces the existing pipe and provides a smooth new interior surface.

After the lining has cured, the sewer line is inspected again to verify the finished installation.

Why Choose Structural Spray Lining?

  • Minimal Excavation — rehabilitates the existing pipe from the inside.
  • Protects Your Property — helps avoid tearing up landscaping, concrete, driveways and hardscape.
  • Structural Reinforcement — adds structural integrity to deteriorated piping.
  • Corrosion Resistant — protects the interior from further corrosion and deterioration.
  • Smooth, Seamless Interior — creates a continuous new surface inside the existing line.
  • Less Downtime & Cleanup — typically involves much less disruption than conventional excavation.
  • Long-Term Solution — designed as rehabilitation of the pipe, rather than simply coating over a problem.

Is Your Sewer Line A Candidate?

Not every damaged sewer should be spray lined. Before proceeding, the existing pipe must be evaluated to determine if it can be properly prepared and structurally rehabilitated. Conditions like severe collapses or major alignment issues may require alternative trenchless solutions such as pipe bursting or traditional sewer replacement instead. That’s why we always start with the pipe itself not a predetermined solution. Our priority is identifying the least disruptive, most practical way to restore your sewer system while protecting your property.
